Building the region’s model for ending homelessness, together.

Beyond Homeless unites government, nonprofits, real estate, philanthropy, and tech around one goal: developing and operating homeless housing and service facilities at scale. We serve as backbone and convener, turning a fragmented system into coordinated action across campuses, innovation, and policy.

The challenge

The Bay Area spends billions on homelessness, yet housing and services remain fragmented across counties, agencies, and providers. Site control is the single biggest blocker to new facilities, funding is contracting, and no shared picture of the system exists.

02
Our approach

Learn from proven models, convene unlikely partners, and pilot new ones.

We brought Bay Area leaders to see what works, organized the region into focused Collaboratives, and applied real estate expertise and technology to the hardest bottlenecks.

On film

The work, on film.

Two short films from Beyond Homeless: the Bay Area delegation’s field learning in Texas, and the convening that first brought the region’s leaders to one table.

Field learning
· Fall 2025

The Texas delegation: what’s working at scale.

A cross-sector Bay Area delegation traveled to Texas to study homelessness solutions that are working at scale, and to ask what the Bay Area could learn, adapt, and accelerate. Leaders from housing, policy, healthcare, philanthropy, and civic life spent the trip in site visits and roundtables with some of the country’s most innovative organizations.

Convening
· October 2023

The first solutions convening, the region at one table.

On October 3, 2023, 50 leaders from more than 30 of the Bay Area’s top civic organizations gathered in San Francisco for the first-ever solutions convening on homelessness, brainstorming the initiatives they could coalesce around to make a significant, positive impact.

Collective Impact has become a vital bridge between the Bay Area Council and the tech community, and it’s leading collaborations on homelessness that bring new partners to the table. Its vision for reimagining how our buildings and campuses serve the region is exactly the kind of thinking we need on our board.”
